Activities in and around Les Gets

If you are sports fan or just fancy a beautiful walk through the mountains Les Gets is the place to be this summer, the resort accommodates for everyone. Les Gets offers you a variety of activities from golf, hiking, white water river rafting, canoeing and swimming in Lake Montriond, our glacier lake which you see frozen over in winter. For the more adventurous, why not try an adrenaline surge on one of the mountain bike trails or see Les Gets from a birds eye view, 6000 feet up in a paraglider.

The beautiful Les Gets Lake, known as ‘Les Gets Beach’ appeals to all the family with a great waterslide being the main attraction for children. Les Gets is a child friendly village with a range of activities planned weekly by the tourist office.

Take a journey through the trees on Les Gets’ high rope course, a great day out for all the family which is located just beside ‘Les Gets beach’.

Golf

Les Gets’ 18 hole golf course with its panoramic views and the fresh Alpine air make it a delight for any golfer. With a hole named after the nearby peaks, Mont Blanc is a real presence on this course creating the perfect mix between a true test of golf and exceptional scenery from the 1st hole to the 19th. With The Evian Golf Resort, host to the major golfing event The Evian Championship of the LPGA tour schedule and the Esery Golf Course only 45 minutes’ drive away you can fulfil all your golfing desires. Counted among the five most beautiful golf courses in France the championship 18 holes at Divonne Golf Course played by golfing greats such as Seve Ballesteros is just over an hour away.

Mountain Biking and gentle cycling

There are a number of well-marked gentle trails as well as over 90km of slopes with 13 downhill (DH), 1 freeride (FR) and 6 Cross-country (XC) trails making Les Get a mountain bikers paradise. With a choice of chair lifts from the centre of the village and a range of trails so that you can explore different areas of the Alps every day.

Hiking and walking

Les Gets offers hiking treks and mountain walking from the beginner to the advanced. Available from the tourist office are maps with wonderful outlined walks. The option to hire a mountain guide is up to you but whether you do or don’t you will discover the fauna and flora of the Alps. A walk up Mont Chery could mean the sighting of a resident marmot or chamois as well as the chance to pick your own wild strawberries and blueberries or mountain flowers. You can also stop at magnificent Mont Caly to take an outstanding photo of Mont Blanc and lunch at ‘Les Chevrelles’. This family farmhouse offers excellent home cooked food, natural spring water and perhaps the best omelette with fresh bolete mushrooms you will ever eat!

Sightseeing

There are a number of original beautiful villages within 45 minute’s drive of Les Gets itself. Yvoire is one of the very few well preserved medieval villages in France and is a delight to explore. St Jean D’Alups with its 12th century ruined abbey is only 15 minute’s drive from Les Gets reflecting two thousand years of human history in the area. Slightly further on you will find the Devils Gorge, which gives visitors a striking illustration of natural geological erosion that can be explored very safely on a specially constructed walkway of bridges overlooking the river Dranse.
